I was invited to stay at the Wolas Villas & Spa as part of a collaboration with a Balinese hotel management group, and I was truly pinching myself the whole time. It was one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at – they missed literally no detail. The villas are beyond luxurious, the service was unparalleled, and I was truly devastated to have to leave.
Staying in a luxury villa is one of the quintessential Bali experiences. It’s pretty much a must-do in my opinion. There’s nothing better than lounging at your private pool (I repeat: private. pool.) and admiring the traditional decor. Light years above ordinary hotels, villas are just unmatched luxury and allow you to experience true Balinese hospitality.
I’ve stayed at many villas in Indonesia over the years, and Wolas Villas & Spa blew them all out of the water. This was my favorite hotel stay in Bali and I’m so excited to share my full review today!

Quick Info About Wolas Villas and Spa
Wolas Villas & Spa is a 5-star luxury property in Bali’s upscale Seminyak neighborhood. Seminyak is a hotspot for restaurants, beach clubs, and shopping, so the location couldn’t be better.
The property itself is tranquil and quiet, a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town. Its 18 villas feature private pools, spacious bedrooms, massive marble bathrooms, and outdoor showers. The property also has a restaurant and spa on-site, so it’s basically a one-stop shop for luxury travelers looking for a relaxing getaway.
Villas start from $199 USD/night, and they’re worth every penny. You would easily pay double for a place like this anywhere else in the world. The facilities are LUXE.

The Villas
Wolas Villas & Spa offers a few different luxury accommodation options – the One Bedroom Royal Pool Villa, Two Bedroom Royal Pool Villa, and the Grand Royal One Bedroom Pool Villa.
My standard one bedroom villa featured a spacious bedroom, equally spacious bathroom, huge (and deep) pool with loungers and tons of space, and an outdoor living area with couches, a tv, and a full kitchen. INSANE. My villa was larger than my apartment back in Sydney.
The rooms are luxuriously decorated with traditional Balinese artwork and pieces. Everything from the intricately carved door handles to the beautiful decorative pillows was tasteful but luxe.
My personal favorite part of the villa – and one of the main draws of villa life – was the massive pool. It was surprisingly deep (at 5’3″, I couldn’t come close to touching the bottom), and beautifully decorated with classic tilework and paneling.
Fragrant tropical flowers fell from a nearby tree and dusted the surface every morning… I mean, you cannot make this stuff up. The two loungers on the enormous sun deck were a nice touch, and I spent every afternoon sipping a cocktail and enjoying the sunshine. It was absolute bliss.
The Restaurant
The Wolas Villas & Spa has an on-site restaurant and bar, The WokSpices. The restaurant presents Asian fusion dishes in a contemporary style. They also offer room service at the villas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Per usual, I sampled a good chunk of the menu. Highlights included their delicious and photogenic floating breakfast (a must-do in Bali) and their dinner special, the seafood fried rice (an insanely fragrant, punchy bowl packed with spices, calamari, and prawns!).
I also had an afternoon tea with Balinese coffee, traditional desserts like Balinese crepes stuffed with palm sugar and coconut, fudgy brownies, fried banana, and mini custard tarts. The fried banana and tarts in particular were delicious and just the right amount of sweetness.
…And I may also have tried out their fried rice (delicious), fried noodle (delicious), aglio e olio (also delicious), and the divine creme brulée.
My meals were NOT complimentary, so believe me – the food really was this good! Prices are on par with the area (85K-125K for mains), which is an absolute steal considering the caliber of the food and location.
The Spa
The spa at Wolas Villas offers a wide variety of luxury treatments! Favorites include the chocolate body scrub, green tea body scrub, and coffee Bali scrub.
They also offer aromatherapy massages, indulgent flower baths (a Bali must-do!!), and a refreshing drink with your treatment. Spa culture in Bali is absolutely unparalleled – the massages are divine, deep-tissue, and insanely relaxing, and the flower baths and pampering are next-level. I’d consider any Bali trip wasted without at least one massage-flower-bath combo.
And the prices are an absolute steal, at under $40 USD for scrub, massage, flower bath, and all the extras combined!
The Staff
The legendary Balinese hospitality is on full display at the Wolas Villas. Just like their partner hotels I collaborated with (Akana Boutique Hotel Sanur and Ossotel Legian), they had the absolute kindest and most hospitable staff you could imagine. I truly could not believe how friendly everyone was.
I had long chats about travel, life, and Bali with multiple staff members. I took photos with so many people. Staff offered me so many recommendations about what to do in the area. And they insisted on dropping me off at my next hotel, free of charge.
Most of these people had no idea who I was, either, so I definitely wasn’t getting special treatment. They’re genuinely just that lovely, and eager to share the beauty of their culture and country with guests.
Location & Things to Do
Seminyak is an absolute whirlwind spot and worth a stop on any Bali trip. This is Bali the way it looks on Instagram – the heartland of brunch spots, extravagant shopping, casual-cool beach clubs, cocktail bars, and more. There’s so much to do that it’s almost a bit overwhelming.
And I appreciated the tranquility of Wolas Villas even more because of its contrast to Seminyak as a whole. Truthfully, I enjoyed my stay so much that I spent a full 24 hours at my villa without going anywhere lol – just enjoying my pool and room service and KICKING TF BACK.
But while I’d recommend allowing a day (or at least an afternoon) to relax and do nothing at your villa, you’ll be missing out if you don’t get out in Seminyak and explore.
Some of my favorite activities nearby — hit the beach clubs (like the famous Potato Head Beach Club, La Plancha, Mrs Sippy, and Ku De Ta are a few hotspots) — grab food at Sea Circus, Moana Fish Eatery, or Da Maria — have a spa day at Prana Spa.
