Every time I visit, I make a point to book at least one hotel or villa that offers floating breakfast in Bali. This is a must-do experience – it’s extra, Insta-worthy, luxurious, and totally delicious. Until you’ve had breakfast in a pool, you haven’t LIVED.
I’ve been to Bali four times and tried more than my fair share of floating breakfasts. And today I’ve written up a big list for you! I did a lot of very unenjoyable field research for this post (😉) so I’m recommending most of these places from firsthand experience.
Most are located in Ubud, Bali’s tranquil jungle town, but fortunately you can find some all over the island. Hope you guys enjoy this post of the best floating breakfasts in Bali!
Table of Contents
Where to Get a Floating Breakfast in Ubud
You’ll find the most variety of floating breakfasts in Bali here in Ubud. There’s a HUGE concentration of luxury resorts, beautiful villas, and spas in the area, and pretty much all of them offer floating breakfast. Here are all my favorite spots!
Puri Gangga Resort Floating Breakfast
This is probably the most photogenic floating breakfast in Bali – Puri Gangga’s presentation is next-level. It’s also freaking delicious. They had one of the best mie goreng (fried noodle) I had in Bali, plus some really yummy pastries and fresh-squeezed juice (the guava was AMAZING). The pool itself is gorgeous and overlooks the jungle.
You can get some really nice shots here. I didn’t feel like busting out the tripod, and the Instagram husband I was lent by a sweet girl at the pool turned out to be a less-than-ideal photographer, but just trust me on this one! They also do a MEAN floating afternoon tea.
Check out current availability at Puri Gangga Resort here.
Kamandalu Resort Floating Breakfast
This was the first place I ever had a floating breakfast – on my first-ever solo trip two years ago – and it changed my life!! I booked a private pool villa and arranged breakfast there. It was absolute magic sipping my morning coffee overlooking the jungle. I’d highly recommend getting a pool villa if you’re looking for a chill, luxe breakfast on your own time.
If you’re looking for the best possible photo, I’d actually recommend booking your floating breakfast at Kamandalu Resort in the public pool rather than your own. It’s bigger, nicer, and has a more spectacular view. Either way, it’s DELIGHTFUL. And PSA – it comes with a FULL bottle of sparkling wine.

The Udaya Floating Breakfast
The Udaya is most famous for their flower bath (check out Bali’s best flower bath offerings here), but it turns out they also do a pretty spectacular floating breakfast. I know several people who have stayed there and they all said it was high-quality, big portions, and GORGEOUS presentation. You can arrange a floating breakfast if you are staying in a Pool Suite or Pool Villa.

The Royal Purnama Floating Breakfast
HONESTLY can you imagine a more perfect breakfast? This luxurious adults-only resort features a whole suite of villas with private pools, PLUS an outrageous guest pool with some of the prettiest-looking day beds in Bali. Choose from a spread of Indonesian or Western favorites and you’re good to go. This one is on the list for my next trip to Bali!!

Kayon Jungle Resort Floating Breakfast
The two-tier pool at Kayon Jungle Resort has made it an Ubud legend and a must-visit hotel. Their pool bar is open to non-guests and is an amazing experience as well. But their floating breakfast is one of their main draws!! The food + fresh-squeezed juices are supposed to be amazing, and their prime location means they have one of the best jungle views in Ubud.

The Wolas Villas and Spa Floating Breakfast
I dropped my camera into my floating breakfast mid photo shoot (don’t ask) so didn’t really get a proper shot of this one, but I seriously couldn’t recommend it more highly. The villas all have HUGE pools so you can organise breakfast in the comfort of your private villa! Amazing.
I had the banana french toast but I tried their mie goreng for lunch one day and it was AMAZING – I think I’d recommend their Indonesian food first because they do it so, so well. But you really can’t go wrong. One of my fave hotel stays in my four visits to Bali. They also do a delicious afternoon tea, if you’re the type to crave some sweets midday.

W Bali Floating Breakfast
W Bali is another hotspot in Seminyak. It’s known for its luxury resort vibes + beautiful decor, including a gorgeous bamboo walkway leading up to the hotel. They also do these very Instagrammable W-branded pink coconuts, because why not.
The floating breakfast itself is supposed to be a very high-quality spread with both Western and Indonesian options. And they offer a floating afternoon tea (pictured). The hotel is also walking distance to two of my favorite beach clubs in Bali, Potato Head & Mrs Sippy – it’s a great, walkable location with lots to do nearby.

Cabina Bali Floating Breakfast
Cabina’s a unique entry on this list because it’s actually not a hotel! They are a restaurant with a pool and offer floating breakfast + brunch packages for groups. You can choose from a basic or premium menu featuring options like chicken + waffles, Indonesian noodles, or a mac-and-cheese-topped croissant!
The restaurant has really cute decor and was basically designed for Instagram. This one’s a great option if your hotels are already booked but you still want to enjoy a floating breakfast in Bali!

Shore Amora Floating Breakfast
Shore Amora is high on my list for my next Bali trip! Set facing a rice field, the hotel is located in a up-and-coming area of Canggu with a lot of development. The hotel is modern, smartly designed, and brand spankin’ new – they only opened earlier in 2019!
Their floating breakfast looks BOMB. They’ve designed a clear tray so your breakfast literally looks like it’s just floating on top of the water — so cool and makes for some amazing photos, judging by their tagged photos section on Instagram. I can’t wait to check this one out next time I’m in Bali!!

FAQ on Bali Floating Breakfasts
How Much is a Floating Breakfast in Bali?
Costs for floating breakfasts can vary a TON depending where you decide to stay. Sometimes breakfast will be included in your booking. At a 3 or 4-star hotel you can expect to pay about $20-30 USD, at a 5-star resort you’ll sometimes be looking at $40-50. Still worth it, imo.
If you’re looking for the most affordable floating breakfast in Bali I’d recommend checking your hotel’s site or contacting them beforehand to confirm if breakfast is included in the booking or if you’ll have to pay separately.
Is Floating Breakfast Actually Worth it?
In my opinion, yes. Once. Lol. It makes a good photo op for the gram, and it’s a unique and fun travel experience, which is more than enough to justify a $20-30 expense.
HOWEVER. The logistics of eating breakfast in a pool are not actually that workable. The floating breakfast tray looks bomb, but it is impractical af to actually eat out of. You get water all over half your food. Sh*t floats away from you while you’re trying to enjoy your breakfast. Eventually you give up and find somewhere (dry-ish) to sit and inhale your pancakes.
So yes it’s worth it, definitely get one while you’re in Bali, you’ll have fun 🙂
